Dr. Rachel Hensley, DPM
(Podiatrist, Foot and Ankle Surgeon)
Dr. Hensley is a highly skilled surgeon specializing in forefoot and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery. She has completed advanced training in arthroscopic/endoscopic surgery and is certified in the Treace-Lapiplasty system.
From diabetic limb salvage to flat foot reconstruction, Dr. Hensley provides the best conservative and surgical care for her patients. She is trained in minimally invasive surgical techniques especially for bunions and tailor’s bunions. Each procedure is carefully considered and tailored to each patient’s activity and lifestyle. While functionality is the primary focus of any procedure, she achieves aesthetically pleasing results with thoughtful incision placement and suture techniques to minimize scarring.
Dr. Hensley grew up in a military household. Her assignments included Iceland, Japan, and various states across the US. In total, six moves in 14 years with three different high schools.
This multicultural experience has prepared her to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
Dr. Hensley attended Villanova University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology – with honors. Following her undergraduate studies, Dr. Hensley earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine.
DPM in hand, she embarked on a three year podiatric medicine and surgery residency with reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery at Reading Hospital, a 714 bed, level one trauma center, in West Reading, PA. There, she learned the latest surgical techniques in sports medicine surgeries, diabetic limb salvage, Charcot reconstruction, wound care, and other elective forefoot/rearfoot surgeries. She also served as Chief Resident at Reading Hospital.
